This month in the garden...

Garden #1
Jason & Emily Luekdte
840 W. 3rd Ave.

This yard has a little of everything! The lovely terraced rock garden gracing one side contains many lovely varieties of perennials, including cactus and roses. The west side features a more natural area filled with daisies, grasses and other native plants. The fenced in back yard features a spacious lawn and beautiful pond surrounded with abundant water plants adjoining the patio seating area.

Garden #2
Allen & Pat Cottrell
310 S. Eva St.

Guests are greeted by large perennial beds filling the front of this shady yard, and a large window box overflowing with pink petunias creates a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. In the rear, visitors enter a secluded and shady haven filled with shade loving perennials and ferns. A hidden play area is a creative idea that makes this lovely private yard a treat for adults and children alike.

Garden #3
Gary & Trudie Kelly
316 S Eva St.

The front yard of the Kelly family blends seamlessly with the Cottrells’, with flowing perennial beds filled with abundant blooms. Winding borders along the walk welcome visitors. The back yard is home to the Westside Railroad, Gary's model railway which winds its way through miniature landscapes depicting the Northwest and Southwest. A pond with falls is also a part of this unique landscape.

Garden #4
Dunwiddie Elementary School
1243 W. Lincoln Ave.

This small prairie garden is maintained by school volunteers. Paths cut through the plantings offer a glimpse of native plants as they grow in nature. This stop is self-guided.

Garden #5
Joan Smith, Dirk & Mary Snellenberger
1509 Cedar Dr.

The well maintained front beds of this home let visitors know instantly that devoted gardeners live here, but the true treasure lies behind the hydrangea covered archway leading to the back yard. Many separate garden "rooms" have everything one could imagine, including a vegetable garden, winding pathways, a stream and frog-filled pond. It’s a surprising garden oasis tucked in among typical suburban homes.

Garden #6
Eric & Jackie Oleson
3370 Terry Lane

Welcome to a country retreat on a quiet cul de sac. Visitors are greeted by a white picket fence and arbor surrounded by shrubs, perennials, and trees. There is a large and beautifully planted pond out back adjoining the large seating area and numerous perennial beds. Visitors will lose themselves wandering through this park-like setting.

Perennial & Shrub Sale
822 W Grand Ave

The Garden Club will have bargain-priced perennial plants, shrubs and trees for sale. Most of the plants on sale can be seen at their mature size in this garden. The sale runs from 9AM until 1PM.
