Garden Club Wins Beautification Award

On Wednesday, November 15, 2000, Garden Club president Tom Hudson accepted the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce's City Beautification award on behalf of the Club's members.  The award was in recognition of the Club's perennial plantings at Rotary Park.

The Garden Club raised funds for the project at its plant sale and Garden Walk events in 1998, and hired Mequon landscape architect Carol Bangs to design the plantings.  Carol selected appropriate plants for the special lakeshore microclimate and supervised the installation of the plantings.  Since the installation, the Club members have taken an active role in maintaining the beds in the park, scheduling special weeding days to remove unwanted plant pests and prune the desirable plantings.

Congratulations to all the members of the club for their hard work and dedication!
